how it works

This scavenger hunt will work as a house party (it will work even better if you can use your yard, your neighborhood and even your neighbors so the teams aren’t falling over each other trying to complete the challenges). It will also work as a walking or driving hunt in your town/city. Or it can be a combination of both. So flexible!!!

Your group will be divided into teams of up to 10 people (minimum of three or four to a team). This hunt is a timed hunt broken down into two timed challenges: Photo Ops and Find Items (with a bonus challenge thrown in for good measure). Your teams will have 45 minutes to complete part one. They will then report to your host/organizer to get part two. The teams will then be given another 45 minutes to complete part two. At the conclusion of part two all teams will report back to home base. OPTION: You don’t need to time each challenge section. Just give the teams this entire hunt and 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours IN TOTAL to complete it.

The teams will have a selection of picture challenges to choose from; their goal is to take eight great photos for the highest number of points possible. They’ll also need to obtain specific items which they’ll find by solving a word search puzzle – these are also worth valuable points. There’s also an additional bonus challenge for them to complete. At the conclusion of the hunt, the teams will do an optional final project – we provide four different projects to choose from. They can prepare while you “grade” their challenge sheets to find the winners based on point total (award certificates are included with this hunt). THE WINNING TEAM will have had the most fun as a team while collecting the most points.

The TEAM BUILDING VERSION of this hunt is suitable for your office complex (not recommended for a one-room office; it’s preferable if you have a whole building and even outside areas to work with just to give your teams more options and to make sure they’re not getting in each other’s way).

For the TEAM BUILDING VERSION of this scavenger hunt:

  • There will be an added mid-hunt meet where additional challenges (included) will be given out and team members may move to other teams or team roles will change. At the conclusion of the hunt, after the teams present a creative and inspiring final presentation, we recommend you have a debriefing session using the team assessment form included with your kit.
  • TEAM OBJECTIVE: Form an efficient, effective and enthusiastic team that communicates well, works by consensus and has a definite plan of action to complete this adventure hunt. The team that does this the best will be your outstanding team of the day. (While points matter, outstanding team work matters more for this version of the game.)

examples

We offer lots of different types of challenges to complete to keep it interesting, engaging and fun, fun, fun!

  1. Take a picture of your funniest team member creatively using a flashlight or a plunger. POINT VALUE: 500.
  2. Interpretive Photo – the teams will create a photo that pictorially represents a nonsensical or silly statement like this example: This little piggy went to market; this little piggy stayed home; this little piggy ate roast beef; this little piggy had a really bad itch. (They’ll have a list to pick and choose from.) VALUE: 2,000 POINTS PER PHOTO.
  3. The teams will solve a word search of 20 hidden items; they’ll need to then find 10 of those items. Example: a multi-vitamin. VALUE: 100 POINTS PER ITEM.

FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE!  Our games are formatted in Microsoft Word which means you can EASILY edit them to personalize them if you so choose (they’re also ready to go as is).

NUMBER OF TEAMS or PARTICIPANTS

Unlimited number of teams with a minimum of three to a maximum of 10 people per team. You can do this hunt with one team racing against the clock to as many teams as you can handle. We do recommend one facilitator/helper for every two to three teams to keep things running smoothly, especially when you grade team efforts and tally up completed challenges.

age range

Age 16* to adult (*based on testimonials and customer feedback. If you have any questions about this hunt being suitable for your children, please contact us.)

length of hunt

Two to four hours, depending on the size of your group*: Five minutes for opening instructions; a minimum of 1 1/2 hours for the scavenger hunt and about 30 minutes or more for the grading, (optional) final challenge and awards presentation. *The more teams you have, the more time it will take.

For the team building versions of the hunts, allow two to four+ hours, depending on the size of your group: about 25 minutes for opening instructions, warm up game and team organization; 1 1/2 – 2 hours for the hunt and about 30 minutes (or more) for grading, team presentations, awards and optional but recommended team assessment discussion.

pre-hunt prep time

For up to six teams, you can put our scavenger hunts together in about four to six hours (includes shopping for supplies, reading the scavenger hunt and prepping the materials); as you add teams, you’ll need to add time to the pre-hunt prep. You mostly need to print (and perhaps edit) the documents included with the kit, pack the collection bags and you’ll need to get team prizes and other inexpensive supplies like clipboards and pens. Our facilitator guide provides a supply checklist for you.
