Reviews for our classroom activities/games

Kids' Detective Mystery Game/Scavenger Hunt - Download NowI just wanted to let you know that the Catch Me If You Can game was great. I used it as a reading/following directions activity for my 6th grade class. It was a wonderful classroom activity. Thanks, Sharon Sweeney, Valley Falls KS

These classroom games are great! I teach a homeschool crime science class and the CSI game will be perfect for classroom use. It covers everything we have been studying. Thanks! Marla Lahrman, St. Joseph MI

Kids Scavenger Hunt GameLast Friday I was able to break out the Kovert Kids Scavenger Hunt and the Crime Scene Investigation game! I used the Kovert Kids for my morning session with 1-3rd graders. They absolutely had a ball. The baby picture section was my favorite. That’s such a wonderful idea! Thank you so much. CSI was used in my afternoon session with my 4th-6th graders. They were so excited to be a part of something so interactive and fun. I want to thank you for such educational and fun classroom activities. Heather Corcoran, Kids College Coordinator, Mt. Tech, Butte, MT

Medieval Knights Game for KidsI used your Medieval game last week at our after school program. The kids (mostly boys in grades 4-6) absolutely LOVED it. They even wanted to work more on their shields the day after! Thanks! Jan Brooks, Program Director, NECC After School Connection, North East Community Center, Millerton, NY 12546

1970’s Beauty School Murder Mystery Game

Rushmore’s Revenge Murder Mystery Game: A social for the 1979 graduating class of Rushmore’s Beauty Academy for Women.

1970's beauty school murder mystery game

ALL FEMALE CAST. This would also be fun for an all-male cast dressed in drag. We love to make the women English or Southern.

STORY: Changes are coming to the Rushmore Beauty Academy for Women – an institution where nothing has changed in its 80-year history. Bernice Rushmore, whose family founded the school, is resigning from the Board Of Regents and withdrawing her funding. As a result, men will now be admitted to the school to increase enrollment in the hopes of keeping the school afloat. Naturally, it’s all very upsetting. So we advise you to watch your back. It’s difficult to tell who is friend or foe with the future of this sacred institution at stake.

THE PLACE: Rushmore Beauty Academy for Women, Staffordshire, England (England is optional; a southern state in the U.S. is another option).

THE EVENT: A social for graduating class of 1979 (Alternatives: the 1950’s or modern day).

A TESTIMONIAL: “We successfully put on the production of Rushmore’s Revenge to an audience of 40. Nervous didn’t come into it ! However once we had started we had a great time. Many thanks for the privilege of performing. We really hope to do some more.” Maggie,  Bridlington, East Yorks, UK

P.S. “We are a group that belongs to U3a. It is a world wide organisation and there are over 90 odd interest groups of which drama is one.”

Order and download this or another of our fabulous murder mystery games now.  Make your event as memorable as Maggie’s was.

REVIEW:

“Hello, Susan! I just wanted to let you know that your murder mystery play, The Final Cut, was a HUGE hit this past weekend. 92 people from my small community came out to laugh until they had tears rolling down their faces, and many told me it was the best one so far. This is the 7th one of your packages I’ve put on here in my small community. Each year it seems I hear the same thing: “Oh my gosh, I haven’t laughed that hard in ages. That was the best one yet!” So thanks so much for selling such a wonderful product.”
Thanks again.

Is a Murder Mystery Game Right for YOUR Event?

Thinking about doing a murder mystery game but not sure if it will be a good fit for your event?

I love that my mystery games are used for all sorts of events from fundraisers to house parties to church events to … well, whatever!

Each year, the Mora Area Chamber of Commerce performs one of our murder mystery games.  Karen Amundson is their fearless leader, director, actor, stage manager, stage hand and jack of all trades.  Her creativity and imagination are inspiring with every adaptation she makes to our games. Her efforts combined with our mystery games make for one successful event after another, like this one:

“The murder mystery dinner this year was a HIT…

Especially when my main male character (after he “died”) came swankering out to the bar for a drink, as a woman with very large boobies with fantastic nipples in a very tight stretchy dress! All eyes were on him/her and, well, we pretty much lost it for a while! He had his wig on backwards, but it really worked on him/her!

Irish Themed Murder Mystery Game“Taking Life One Shot at at Time” or “The 225th Annual Meeting of the O’Gilvie Irish Whiskey Distillery” adapted from your “Next of Kin” … (Ogilvie is a small town near Mora where we live. – We’re ScandinavianIrish Murder Mystery Game around here, mostly. Not many Irish – but falling near St. Patrick’s Day – what could we do!??) We sold shots of Jameson – in special stainless steel shot glasses we had made – with O’Gilvie – Fine Irish Whiskey – printed on them.

I played Sister Coreen. It was so fun!

Thank you again, Susan.”

Karen Amundson
Mora Area Chamber of Commerce, Mora MN

Here’s a testimonial for our murder mystery games from a church group that I just love:

“We have used two of your murder mystery games for church fundraisers. The last one was Bordello of the Damned (cast pictured). We tied this in with raising awareness of human trafficking. We donated a portion to Lutheran Social Services to help with their programs. We are a small rural church with lots of people who believe we can do almost any thing. Your games have been a big hit with everyone and a blast to perform. A neighboring church asked us to help them raise money for a local man whose restaurant burned down, so I came back to you for another murder mystery. We couldn’t decide which one to do so we bought four. We will use one this winter and one next summer for hopefully a good cause. Your games work so well for us, and our shows usually sell out. Thank you, Gene Gatewood, Svea Lutheran Church, Svea, MN”

Here’s a testimonial for our murder mystery games for a corporate event:

“We surprised the whole group with your Spies Like Us Team Building Mystery Game by covertly incorporating your characters into our meeting. They were prepared for a long boring lecture Photo: Team building murder mystery game victimdetailing a new product for our company from an ET Mars imposter. One of our supervisors (AKA Wanda Frohickey – one of the prime suspects in your murder mystery) jumped up and started yelling at the guest speaker saying he was not ET Mars. Everyone was stunned. They couldn’t believe she would stand up and yell at such an important representative of our company. The “real” ET Mars came out and called for security to escort the imposter from the building. Out I came in a security uniform and doing my best Barney Fife impersonation. People were laughing throughout the dinner and they still thought we actually had a new drug for the company in development. Overall, we had a great time and we really enjoyed the dinner. Thank you for the great script and making our dinner successful. Kind Regards, Daryl Dawson, Quincy, MA”

And last but definitely not least is a testimonial from a teenager for our Hollywood themed murder mystery game, Final Cut:

I just came back from one of the most enjoyably gratifying events of my life. Granted, I’ve only been alive for 16 years, but this is definitely one I will remember. At my high school, I am the Treasurer of our Thespian Society Chapter. We were very low in club funds so we decided to put on a Murder Mystery Dinner to raise money. I was the director and organizer of the event, and the materials that came with the “Final Cut” mystery game were such a big help. The student actors thoroughly enjoyed breaking from the standard “stage performance” and exploring interactive and improvisational theater. We had a caterer, raffles, place cards, sternos, everything to make the dinner legitimate and, in a way, classy. The audience absolutely loved the performance. EVERYONE in the high school cafeteria enjoyed themselves tremendously, and we were able to raise over $500. Thank you so much for the basis for an amazing evening. We hope to make this an annual event, and we will of course use you next time =) Sincerely, Maria Knieste and the Hills West Thespian Society, Dix Hill, NY”

OPERATION OUR TOWN SCAVENGER HUNT GAME – a perfect summer party game

Scavenger Hunt Games - Downloadable - photo of team having funOperation Our Town scavenger hunt was a HUGE success at my family reunion!! We ALL – everyone – had a great time. The interaction was exactly what was needed. You learn a lot about people through such activities. I can’t wait to try another one of your hunts. By the way I liked to read what others thought about the product before buying and I love that you communicate with your audience – it adds such a personal touch! Wonderful! – Andrea Johnson

A DEADLY INCENTIVE  – a murder mystery game for large groups

We did “A Deadly Incentive” as a fundraiser for the Foundation and it was a smashing success. We did have one complaint: a gal said her cheeks hurt from laughing so hard. 🙂 We love those complaints. Thanks for providing the complete package. We just love it and that’s why we’re back for more! – Ginny Reeves, President, PV Police Foundation

CATCH ME IF YOU CAN – a mystery scavenger hunt game for kids

Mystery Scavenger Hunt Game for Kids - photo of teamThe girls had a great time! It (Operation Catch Me If You Can) helped keep 8 seven and eight-year old girls busy for a sleepover party. It was great having something structured like this for the girls to do—help prevent cliques being formed and the cattiness that often occurs with little girls. This was a very entertaining party idea and very well-priced! By morning all of the girls left saying, “This was the best sleepover party ever!” Also, thank for the excellent customer service that is so often lacking in most business. – Debbie, New York mom of 5

More murder mystery games for large groups: Murder on Maui, The Demise of the Downhome Dealers, Final Cut and A Deadly Incentive

Hawaiian Luau Murder Mystery Game - cast photoI am expecting to have a very good time with this latest one – as always!! The last one was OUTSTANDING!!! My secondary suspects really got into it and gave us even more laughs!! Thanks again for such a fun, fantastic product!! – Jeri Reeve, Our Wonderful Repeat Offender – she just keeps comin’ back for more!

OPERATION BIRTHDAY BASH – a kids’ scavenger hunt

The birthday party scavenger hunt, Operation Birthday Bash was a BLAST! Thanks again! We have ordered from y’all before and you NEVER disappoint.- Ember Mandell.  (We also have another great scavenger hunt for kids: Operation Kovert Kids.)

THE MAFIA MURDERS – our 1920’s gangster murder mystery game and one of our most popular games.

I’m sharing Janey Hudson’s newsletter for party idea inspiration as well as her testimonial.

HER TESTIMONIAL:

Gangster 1920's murder mystery game - suspect photoHi, Susan, this is kind of a long e-mail, but it’s all good, so please bear with it!

We are retirees in a community in Central Florida. A couple of years ago we did your Mafia murder mystery. At the same time, I also undertook an elaborate Italian dinner with a “speakeasy” type decor for 160 of our closest friends and neighbors. It was an absolutely SMASHING success and we vowed to do another one the next year.

Last year, someone else decided to “cook” and they decided on a German theme. I perused your offerings and couldn’t find anything I thought was appropriate, so I (sigh!) bought a “murder mystery” from another vendor because it kind of “fit” the evening’s meal. I can honestly say, it was disappointing to my husband and I because it had absolutely no “pop” to it. I was glad when the night was over.

Pirate Mardi Gras Murder Mystery Game - suspect photoThis year, before anyone else could usurp the kitchen (lol) I offered again to host a murder for a large group. My meal/city is New Orleans/Mardi Gras so Dead Man’s Chest (our pirate Mardi Gras murder mystery game) is perfect…We have already found a life size pirate cut-out which we plan to have people stand up and get their pictures taken as “pirates”.

I know this is long, but I just wanted to let you know how much fun we have with your productions and how disappointed we were when we chose another one. I guess we’ll know not to go “fishing” elsewhere for something you have. LOL. P.S. Our “extravaganzas” sell out lock, stock and barrel within about a week of posting tickets for sale!

Italian Murder Mystery
Dinner, Murder and Dessert!

Uh-Oh!!!!! Somebody killed ‘da Boss! And we all know that means “somebody” has to pay, pay, pay. Please join The Beacon Terrace Players as they present a murder mystery in the infamous local Italian speakeasy, The Library, (located in the BT clubhouse) … for an evening of great food, good company, and, unfortunately, a dastardly murder. Never fear, BT neighbors, the “neighborhood” is once again made safe because of top notch detective work by the local primo gumshoes and their massive team of assistants (a/k/a dinner guests) who for one night are given the courtesy title of “The Beacon Terrace Detective Squad” (okay, they‘re the Fuzz). Justice ultimately prevails because of combined efforts and relentless sleuthing, to collaborate, solve the case, catch the bad guy and, in the end, point the long arm of the law toward WHO DONE IT!

Watch for soon to be posted announcements providing more details of this upcoming event. Expect to be waited on by your professional Beacon Terrace wait staff, entertained by The Beacon Terrace Players who will act their hearts out to grab your attention, and the BT Fuzz Division who do their best to keep the community crime free. The BT Players will be in period 1920s attire and will astound you with their trash talking mob slang. Don’t miss out on this exciting evening of fun!
